MMA News: ONE Championship's February 25 Event To Feature Three Title Defenses
KEY POINTS
- ONE: Full Circle will have three title fights as its main attraction
- Aung La N Sang and Vitaly Bigdash will also have their trilogy fight happen at the February 25 event
- Fabricio Andrade faces rising Filipino talent Jeremy Pacatiw in the opening fight of the main card
Putting on must-watch fight cards has always been ONE Championship’s goal, and the Singapore-based outfit is planning to do the same for its February 25 event entitled ONE: Full Circle.
The promotion had previously revealed that reigning ONE middleweight champion Reinier de Ridder will put his title on the line against welterweight kingpin Kiamrian Abbasov in the main event.
In only to bolster the strength of the card, the organization recently announced that ONE: Full Circle will also feature the light heavyweight kickboxing title defense of Roman Kryklia and Murat Aygun.
Their fight was originally supposed to happen at ONE: NextGen but was rescheduled due to Aygun suffering an injury during training camp.
It was scratched for the second time ahead of ONE: Heavy Hitters after both fighters found themselves in the promotion’s health and safety protocols for COVID-19.
With the hope that their fight will finally happen, Aygun will look to end Kryklia’s reign as an opportunity to fight for the title does not happen all that often at all.
The third title fight on the card will have fans watch Petchmorakot Petchyindee Academy defend his ONE featherweight Muay Thai title against No. 1-ranked Jamal Yusupov of Russia.
Petchmorakot has held the title since 2020 and will have his third title defense against Yusupov after the latter was forced to withdraw from their first fight, which would have been Petchmorakot’s first defense.
The trilogy fight between former two former champions in Aung La N Sang and Vitaly Bigdash will also happen at ONE: Full Circle.
Bigdash and Aung La N Sang’s history dates back to 2017 when the pair fought each other from bell to bell for the better part of 10 total rounds.
The Rostov-on-Don, Russia native won their first meeting when he used his superior grappling abilities to take Aung La by surprise and brought home the decision victory, while “The Burmese Python” exacted his revenge on Bigdash in their second meeting thanks to his striking.
With their past two fights going the distance, both Bigdash and Aung La will surely go for the finish when they meet for round 11.
Serving as the opening fight to the main card are rising bantamweights Fabricio Andrade and Jeremy Pacatiw.
Andrade has been making his name in the company after putting up stellar victories against Mark Abelardo, Shoko Sato and Li Kai Wen, putting him on a three-fight win streak that he looks to defend against Pacatiw.
The 25-year-old from the Philippines made his promotional debut at ONE: Battleground where he took home the unanimous decision victory over Rui Chen.
Andrade will be Pacatiw’s biggest challenge to date as the Team Lakay fighter has flashes of brilliance where he takes control of his opponent with ease when given the opportunity to do so.
