  • Kayla Harrison is poised to repeat as the PFL women's lightweight champion
  • The 155-pound bracket features Harrison as the favorite to win
  • Winning the tournament again will cement Harrison's legacy in the sport

If you haven’t been paying attention to the 2021 regular season of the Professional Fighters League (PFL), then you’ve been missing out on quite a lot.

If you have been tuning in, then you’ve likely gotten to see Kayla Harrison dominate the field once again.

The 2019 PFL women’s lightweight champion is once again just two wins away from another reign as the league’s 155-pound queen, and she got there by imposing her will and putting on a clinic against a pair of tough tests.

Harrison opened the season with a 93-second submission victory over Mariana Morais and then followed that up by forcing veteran Cindy Dandois to tap out in under a round.

In the upcoming PFL playoffs, Harrison is once again coming in as the overwhelming favorite with good reason.

Harrison stands out among the women’s 155-pound bracket, which features Taylor Guardado and Genah Fabian--a pair of newcomers with a combined 6-2 pro record--and the top-seeded Larissa Pacheco, a woman whom Harrison has beaten twice.

All signs point to Harrison repeating as the division's PFL champion.

While the two-time Olympian’s 2021 PFL campaign has been nothing short of dominant, it hasn’t been surprising.

Heading into the league’s latest season, Harrison was coming off eight straight wins, including a two-round destruction of Courtney King at featherweight.

Harrison’s foray at 145 pounds helped her make a case as the best pound-for-pound women's fighter in the world today.

Should Harrison be successful in her quest at becoming a two-time PFL women’s lightweight champion, she cements her legacy as the PFL’s undisputed queen.

Not only that, but it also bolsters her standing as one of --if not--the best female mixed martial artists at the moment.

Harrison continues her quest for a world championship when the PFL playoffs begin on August 13th.
