MMA News: Rare All-Filipino Showdown Added To ONE X On March 26
KEY POINTS
- ONE X will see top Filipino fighters in action as part of the promotion's 10th-anniversary celebration
- Lito Adiwang’s road back to his winning ways will have to pass through compatriot Jeremy Miado
- Also slated for ONE X is Filipina standout Denice Zamboanga, who takes on Seo Hee Ham in a rematch
Singapore-based ONE Championship has cooked up another explosive event in March as it celebrates its 10th anniversary featuring top fighters on its roster.
Jeremy Miado will face compatriot Lito Adiwang in an All-Filipino encounter at ONE X set for March 26 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in front of a capacity crowd for the very first time since the COVID-19 pandemic started.
Considering their performances in their past fights, there is reason to expect non-stop action between the two fighters.
On one hand is Adiwang of Team Lakay. He made an immediate impact in the strawweight division. However, it was short-lived after the 28-year-old bowed to Jarred Brooks at ONE: NextGen 3 in October 2021.
Despite the loss, “The Thunder Kid” is expected to rebound from that unanimous decision loss and get back on track.
Adiwang has won four of his last six fights, and there is no doubt that there is excitement in the air each time he enters the cage.
Unfortunately, Adiwang needs to try and get back to his winning ways at the expense of Miado. The task at hand is not expected to be easy.
“The Jaguar” is coming off two scintillating knockout wins over China’s Miao Li Tao.
Moreover, Miado has shown a vastly improved striking game, a product of the training camp he underwent with Marrok Force in Bangkok, Thailand.
A look at their respective records shows Adiwang with a 13-4 win-loss card. Seven of those wins are via knockouts along with four submissions.
Miado, on the other hand, is 10-4 with five knockouts and a lone submission win.
Although it is rare, the Adiwang vs. Miado bout is not the first time that two Filipinos have gone on to face each other.
Previous all-Filipino battles in ONE Championship include Joshua Pacio battling Rene Catalan in a strawweight World title tiff.
There was also the Honorio Banario vs. Eric Kelly featherweight world title showdown that happened in 2013.
Also seeing action at ONE X is Denice Zamboanga. “The Lycan Queen” will face Seo Hee Ham of South Korea, whom she battled at ONE: Empower in September 2021.
Zamboanga lost that match to the South Korean in a controversial fashion via split decision. In the eyes of fans and critics, the Filipina should have been adjudged the winner.
