KEY POINTS
- Stephen Loman gets added to ONE X, facing Japan's Shoko Sato
- Loman will join his teammates Eduard Folayang and Lito Adiwang on the card
- The Filipino looks to go 2-0 in the promotion, while Sato eyes redemption
Singapore-based ONE Championship is making sure that ONE X will not fall short of excitement, adding another blockbuster fight that should delight mixed martial arts fans.
Set for March 26 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, the promotion has added the three-round bantamweight encounter pitting Filipino sensation Stephen Loman against Japan's Shoko Sato.
Loman, the former BRAVE CF bantamweight champion, left a lasting impression in his December 2021 promotional debut, defeating Russian veteran Yusup Saadulaev on the supporting card of ONE: Winter Warriors II.
"The Sniper" landed a counter-punch that sent the Russian crashing to the canvas. The fight was stopped immediately with referee Olivier Coste fending off any further punishment coming Saadulaev’s way.
This win made Loman the third-ranked bantamweight in ONE Championship, just behind former division kingpin Bibiano Fernandes and Kwon Won Il.
However, the native of Baguio City, Philippines will be up against a formidable foe in Sato.
The 34-year-old holds a 3-1 record and possesses a 100% finish rate.
So far, he has won over Mark “Tyson” Abelardo, Rafael “Morcego” Silva, and Kwon before suffering a setback versus rising contender Fabricio Andrade at ONE: Unbreakable III in February 2021.
Hence, Sato is hoping to pull off a decisive win to get back on track.
Aside from Loman, other Team Lakay fighters seeing action at ONE X include stablemates Eduard Folayang and Lito Adiwang.
Folayang will face John Wayne Parr under Muay Thai rules, while Adiwang will square off with compatriot Jeremy Miado in an MMA clash.
Also slated to compete on the card is Denice Zamboanga, who will be looking for payback in her rematch against UFC veteran Seo Hee Ham.
