Model Lauren Scruggs lost her left hand when she walked too close to an airplane propeller in Texas.

Scruggs landed at Aero Country Airport in the McKinney area, about 30 miles from Dallas, about 9:30 p.m. Saturday after viewing North Texas Christmas lights from a small private airplane.

Scruggs, 23, also suffered severe head and shoulder injuries too. She was taken on a helicopter to the hospital, where she underwent several surgeries over the weekend.

A family representative posted a statement on the Web site Caring Bridge Monday, saying Scruggs was recovering from multiple surgeries. She is resting in intensive care. She will undergo more surgery around her severed hand soon, according to the statement.

Scruggs worked in the wardrobe department of the TV show Gossip Girl and runs the fashion blog LOLO.
