More Beans Recalled Over Possible Spoilage Risks: How To Get A Refund
Following a May 19 recall for 1.6 million cases of beans that may have been processed at temperatures that could pose a health risk to consumers, Randall Foods has issued another recall for hundreds of more cases of beans.
During the manufacturing process of the beans, deviations may have occurred that included improper temperatures that possibly indicated that the product was not processed correctly. If the beans were produced at temperatures below requirements, it could lead to premature spoilage or food-borne illnesses.
However, the company said there have been no reported illnesses reported related to the affected beans and is recalling the product as a “precaution.”
The recall affects 437 cases of Fully Cooked Great Northern Beans that were sold in 48-ounce glass jars with a yellow label with the Hurst’s Brand at the top.
The affected beans were shipped from Nov. 7, 2019 to Sept. 28, 2020 for distribution in the states of Iowa, Illinois, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and West Virginia.
The recalled beans have a UPC number of 0 256012 0 and a lot code of TGN19253. The best by date is Sept. 9, 2022.
Consumers that have the jars of beans in their possession should return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
Question about the product can be directed to the N.K. Hurst Company at 317.63107754 or Randall Foods at 1-88-462-2362 or by email at recall@randallbeans.com.
According to Randall Foods, no other Hurst’s Brand products are affected by the recall.
The initial recall from Randall Foods affected 48-ounce, 24-ounce, and 15.4-ounce jars of beans with tan labels that read Randall at the top.
They were distributed from March 1, 2019 to May 15, 2021 for distribution at retailers in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Iowa, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Carolina, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Wisconsin, and West Virginia.
The affected beans included Great Northern Beans, Pinto Beans, Mixed Beans, Kidney Beans, Navy Beans, Black Beans, Garbanzo Beans, Ultimate 4-Bean Mix, and Organic Great Northern Beans.
Refunds will be issued for the beans at the place of purchase regardless of the best buy date, Randall Foods said.
