‘More Life’ Release Date: Drake Announces When Fans Can Expect New ‘Playlist’ Album
Drake’s “More Life” project finally has a release date … kind of. It was rumored that the Toronto rapper would be dropping “More Life” this month, but it turns out fans will have to wait until next year to hear what the rapper’s been working.
On Saturday, during a new episode of OVO Sound Radio, Drake’s manager Oliver El-Khatib told listeners that “More Life” won’t be released until early 2017. “Stay tuned for some updates,” he said (via XXL). Drake confirmed the release date will be in 2017 via an Instagram video he posted to his Instagram of him playing basketball with some friends.
Drake announced he was working on “More Life” in October, telling fans at the time that it isn’t an album but more of a playlist. “I’m off like mixtapes, I want to do a playlist. I want to give you a collection of songs that become the soundtrack to your life,” he explained. “All original music from me. You might hear some tunes from the [OVO] family on there. Just really excited. I had a great tour, I had a great summer. And most people would like go probably take a break, but for me I just want to get right back at it. Be with the people again. … I just want to celebrate life. More life. That’s what we live by. That’s something we not take for granted.”
Although “More Life” won’t be released before the year is out, Drake has already released three tracks from it. Shortly after announcing the project, he dropped “Two Birds, One Stone,” “Fake Love” and “Sneakin’” featuring 21 Savage.
In addition to dropping the new project next year, Drake is also getting ready for his European “Boy Meets World Tour.” Billboard reports the tour kicks off mid-January and wraps in March, with the rapper making stops in Amsterdam, Paris, Berlin, Dublin, Stockholm, Manchester, London and other European cities.
