More power outages will continue for PG&E (PCG) customers over the weekend. The company issued a 48-hour notice for another Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) affecting the counties of Marin, Sonoma, Alameda, Contra Costa, San Mateo, and Santa Clara counties, which could reportedly impact as many as 2 million people.

Weather conditions in the area will be ripe for wildfires as the National Weather Service (NWS) has said even stronger winds are expected Saturday night into Monday morning. The NWS said the winds could be the strongest of the year with 30 to 40 mph winds and gusts up to 60 mph.

The utility has posted an outage map of the areas to be affected by the outage, which it said could take several days to restore after the PSPS.

Customers that have been without power since Wednesday may have their power restored temporarily as a safety precaution going into the weekend’s power outage, PG&E said.

The power outages are part of a safety precaution to prevent wildfires caused by PG&E powerlines and equipment. PG&E filed bankruptcy in January amid liabilities for the Northern California wildfires. The wildfires were the deadliest in history for the state.

On Wednesday, the Kincade fire broke out, which PG&E said was “near the area currently shut off for a PSPS.” The fire broke out in Sonoma County and affected about 27,800 customers, who are without power in the region.

Shares of PG&E stock were down 29.10 percent as of 3:08 p.m. ET on Friday.
