The Twitter update from Wallen concerning the incident received diverse opinions from netizens. One fan said she liked Wallen’s music before the controversy, but her opinion has changed now.
Sorry I liked your music before but that’s when I thought you were a human. No thanks. You lost me with your racism.

Considering that the incident happened more than a week ago, another Twitter user responded to Wallen’s video, pointing out his lack of urgency in the matter.
if you were sincerely sorry and understood what you did, you’d take this moment to educate the huge portion of your fans that support this behavior every day.

but I guess the strategy of going into hiding & waiting this out till it blows over = more & easier $. congrats guy 😒
“The problem here is that you keep on apologizing and keep making horrible mistakes,” said another Twitter user. “The fact that white people are telling you it’s [okay] is NOT [OKAY].”
She added she loved his music, but she was losing faith in him as a human being.

Many said Wallen's words were hurtful, but they forgave him.
I was not happy with the Nword video, please don’t blame a bender this was all you. I’m glad you are seeking sobriety. After watching your heartfelt apology I forgive you. I live in a mixed family and that is a terrible thing you said. Please stay sober and be a positive change.

I don’t consider him a racist at all but the word was extremely hurtful.(ESPECIALLY if you have been called that word or been black period) I forgive but I think (for me) if I just stopped being a supporter. I can’t in good conscience celebrate someone who made careless actions.

Some netizens were of the opinion that Wallen's apology was sincere.
“I think Morgan is sincere. I [really] feel sorry for him for having fans that are completely out of touch though,” she said.
“At least he’s willing to learn and do the right thing. Maybe you all should follow his lead.”

Of course you can come back from all your mistakes. You're human and ALL humans make them. Don't add to your list of mistakes by beating up on yourself. You are loved and you are worthy of forgiveness. First forgive yourself. You didn't mean anyone harm

In the video, Wallen took full accountability for his actions, thanked the people who supported him and asked them not to defend him for his mistakes.
Following the incident, Wallen's record label contract was suspended and he was disqualified from award shows. According to TMZ, multiple radio stations are also pulling his music.
