Mormon Church undergarments have been a mystery to many outside of the Utah-based faith -- until now. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints revealed the sacred -- not secret -- temple clothing in a 4-minute video posted to YouTube Saturday.

"Because there is little or no accurate information on this subject on the Internet the church feels it important to provide this resource," LDS Church spokesman Dale Jones said in statement Monday, according to the Salt-Lake Tribune. "The wearing of religious clothing reflects commitment and devotion to God. Latter-day Saints seek the same respect and sensitivity regarding our sacred clothing as shown to those of other faiths who wear religious vestments."

The video starts out by showing the different garments people of other faiths wear. At the end, the sacred temple clothing is revealed. The garments are worn during Mormon temple rituals and under their clothes every day.

The "robes of the holy priesthood" consist of a white robe, green apron and white cap, which is worn by men and women inside the temple. Then, there is the “temple garments,” which are worn underneath Mormons' clothing on a regular basis and are similar to typical underclothing.

The footage was created to explain, expand upon or clear up some aspects of the faith, the Associated Press reported. It’s offensive to refer to the undergarments as “magical Mormon underwear.”

"There is nothing magical or mystical about temple garments, and church members ask for the same degree of respect and sensitivity that would be afforded to any other faith by people of goodwill,” the video says.

More than 360,000 people have viewed the video since it was posted Saturday. The description reads: “From ancient times, men and women have embraced sacred music, different forms of prayer, religious vestments full of symbolism, gestures and rituals to express their innermost feelings of devotion to God.”
