Most Americans Say Trump's 'Face-Lift' Tweet Made Them Think Less Of The President, New Poll Finds
Most Americans found that President Donald Trump's tweet insulting MSNBC host Mika Brzezinski's face-lift went too far, according to a Politico/Morning Consult poll taken after the controversial tweet was posted to Twitter last Thursday. A majority of Americans also reported that the post made them think less favorably of the president.
Sixty-five percent of voters say Trump’s tweets were unacceptable while just 16 percent say it was acceptable for Trump to tweet that Brzezinski was "bleeding badly from a face-lift." Trump had also tweeted a series of insults at the "Morning Joe" co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Brzezinski, calling them "Crazy Joe" and "Low I.Q. Mika," and alleged that their program had low ratings and was "fake news."
The poll reflects a bipartisan condemnation of the tweets, with lawmakers, celebrities and users on social media coming to the defense of Scarborough and Brzezinski, who are engaged to be married.

The split was different between voters who self-described themselves as either Democrat or Republican. Democrats overwhelmingly said that Trump's tweet was inappropriate: Only 9 percent said his tweets were acceptable, compared with 82 percent who called them unacceptable.
Among Republicans, 28 percent said Trump’s insults of the morning talk show host were acceptable, while 46 percent said that the insults were unacceptable. Twelve percent of independents said Trump’s statements were acceptable, and 65 percent said they weren’t.
Another figure noted how much the tweet changed respondents’ opinion of the president. Fifty-one percent of voters said that Trump’s tweets made them view the president less favorably, whereas 17 percent say the tweets made them view Trump more favorably.

The tweets at the morning hosts were just the beginning of Trump's assault on media over the weekend. He continued Sunday when he tweeted multiple times about CNN, saying that the news company should change its name to "FNN" for "Fake News Network."
He also tweeted wrestling video edited to appear as though Trump were body-slamming the network.
The Politico-Morning/Consult poll surveyed 1,989 registered voters and reported a margin of error of plus or minus 2 percentage points.
