Ciccarese's iPhone 5 concept design is beautiful when you can see it, but when it's turned off, the brilliant Apple logo shines bright through the darkness. Apple should seriously consider adding this gorgeous feature. Courtesy

This is going to be an exciting year for smartphone lovers. While rumors of the release of iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S3 are flying high, other big shots like HTC One X, One S, LG Viper 4G and HTC Incredible 4G are also hitting the shelves within a very short period of time.

This article will explore what's waiting for you in the coming months and will include the rumored phones too as we strongly believe that these phones (read Galaxy S3 and next gen iPhone) will be released this year.

Here goes the list:

Samsung Galaxy S3

Samsung is all set to extend its flagship Galaxy with the launch of new Galaxy S3. This phone is perhaps the most-awaited phone of this year. While most of the features are still rumored, we would consider only those which are most like to be featured in the phone.

The list of rumored features includes 4.6-inch Super AMOLED Plus full HD screen with 1,280×720-pixel resolution and even an edge-to-edge display and a much larger chassis. The phone might also sport a 3D screen.

A revamped light and scratch-resistant ceramic encasing are on the cards.

The new Samsung phone will come with a quad-core ARM A9-based Exynos 4212 chipset with a powerful 1.8GHz (or a little less 1.5GHz) with 2GB RAM. You can also expect a hefty speed boost on graphics and a few power-saving features to improve the battery life of your Galaxy S3.

Samsung will pack the latest Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich OS with a layer of TouchWiz UI version 5.0 (unreleased and expected to be released first on the Galaxy S3).

The phone will come with 32/64 GB internal storage and an external microSD card slot to extend the memory by at least 32 GB. The phone is also rumored to pack a 12-megapixel rear camera and a 2 megapixel front-facing shooter for video chats.

Galaxy S3 is predicted to come with a 2250 mAh battery and also bring some revolutionary features such as wireless charging, 3D Lenticular image technology and waterproof casings.

iPhone 5

Another biggie in our list is Apple's next gen iPhone, dubbed as iPhone 5.

A 3.5/4-inch Display, Teardrop Design and Rubberized Bezel Body with Quantum Dot LED curved glass edge-to-edge display featuring 1280 x 720 resolutions (367ppi) are the most anticipated features of the next iPhone.

Rumors say that this iPhone will introduce A6 processor that will clock in at superfast 1.2 to 1.5 GHz with 1GB or more of RAM. The phone will also introduce latest iOS 6, 4G LTE, Siri 2 along with some interesting features like iWallet, Universal Remote Control, Face Unlock, Universal Remote Control, New Dock Plug and an improved 3D Camera.

HTC One X

The fabled HTC One X has already hit the UK market last week but the US launch is still pending.

HTC One X, launched this year at the Mobile World Congress, has already received great response from both the critics and users. The phone is touted as the king among Android smartphones, thanks to its striking features and dazzling looks.

The One X sports a polycarbonate unibody shell with a 4.7-inch Gorilla Glass 720p screen.

The US version of One X features a powerful 1.5 GHz quad-core processor and a 12-core NVIDIA graphics processor with Qualcomm S4. It will also be available in a 4G LTE model.

The global version of HTC One X is a quad-core phone with Nvidia's Tegra 3 SoC with 4-PLUS-1 processor running at 1.5GHz. However, both versions of the HTC One X devices come with 1GB RAM.

The phone runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich layered with HTC's latest Sense 4.0 interface and sports a new Roboto font, which makes the display appear cleaner. An 8 megapixel camera and the Beats Audio are also among the top features.

The phone has 1800 mAh standard Li-Po battery.

HTC One S

Another phone that's being rolled out by the Taiwan-based smartphone makers is the HTC One S.

The phone is coming on T-Mobile network and is expected to be launched anytime in the last week of April.

The One S, a 4.3-inch Android 4.0 phone, might debut at $200 or so.

This HTC phone gets a standard Qualcomm 1.5 GHz dual-core processor and HTC's updated Sense UI 4 as a topping on the ICS.

While the phone is being touted as the most stylish phone that ever launched by the company with its unibody aluminum design with a scratch-resistant Micro Arc Oxidation coating, the downside of the phone is the 1650mAh non-removable battery.

LG Viper 4G

This LG phone is coming on the Sprint and as the name suggests, this phone will support 4G network.

Note, this is going to be one of the very first smartphones coming on Sprint's newly introduced 4G network.

Powered by Android and built with recyclable materials, this LTE smartphone is eco-friendly and fiercely fast, says Sprint. LG Viper will run on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) and will be powered by 1.2 GHz dual-core processor.

The phone will sport a 4-inch WVGA touchscreen and a 5 MP primary camera and a front-facing VGA camera. Additional features will include Near Field Communication and Google Wallet.

HTC Droid Incredible 4G

This phone is expected to hit shelves on April 26.

Coming on the Verizon 4G network, the phone shares a great resemblance with the HTC Rezound and previous Incredible models.

Although the 4-inch phone will have a 960×540 pixel screen (a little low than most of the new devices which have HD 720p screens), the Droid Incredible 4G boasts of a 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, 1GB RAM, a qHD display, 8-megapixel camera, and 4G LTE connectivity. The phone is powered by Ice Cream Sandwich with a layer of HTC Sense 4.0 UI; it also features NFC, MHL and Bluetooth 4.0.
