A woman was brutally attacked and robbed in broad daylight Thursday by two other women while she was on her way home in Long Beach, California.

The assault happened while the woman, who was not named in the report, was on the phone with her son, who was at work in downtown Los Angeles. The attack was captured on a neighbor’s ring video, which was obtained by KNBC.

The two women who allegedly attacked the mother were in their 20s, the outlet reported.

Long Beach police are still looking for the assailants, who allegedly took the woman's purse and the $300 in it that was supposed to be for rent, according to the report.

The woman tried to fight off her attackers, who were captured on camera hitting the woman repeatedly on the head. The victim suffered a fractured leg and bruises to her face and hands.

During an interview with the news outlet, the son of the woman recalled hearing the moment his mother was attacked and said the whole ordeal left him feeling helpless.

“It cuts to a moment of silence in the middle of the conversation… and suddenly I hear her screams, help, help,” the son, who requested not to be identified on camera, told KNBC. “At that moment, I felt so helpless. I've never felt so helpless in my life.”

While the son admitted that it was an emotional moment for him to see his mother injured, the emotional trauma that his mom suffered from the incident is something that worries him more.

The mother allegedly told her family that she does not feel safe in their neighborhood anymore. Now, all her son can hope for is that the assailants are arrested to avoid any future similar incidents in the neighborhood.

“All I want is justice -- for these women to be found and prosecuted to the full extent of the law, so things like this do not happen again in our own neighborhoods,” the son said.
