A woman in India was caught on camera brutally beating up her two children, including a 2-year-old toddler.

The incident has led to the Delhi Commission For Women (DCW) filing a police case against the accused. The horrifying video was submitted to the officials at the DCW by the accused's husband. While filing a report, he said his wife has not only tortured their children, but also on several occasions threatened to kill his mother, The Hindu reported.

The footage shows the woman beating up her 8-year-old child, while her mother-in-law tries to comfort the child. As the child screams in pain, the grandmother tries to hug the minor. The mother is then seen pulling the child by the hand and thrashing the kid up. The gender of the child was not clear from the video.

There is a brief pause in the assault, following which the child's toddler sibling is seen in the video crying. The woman turns to the 2-year-old and slaps the baby hard. She then hits the toddler behind the head as the baby falls forward. The mother-in-law makes several attempts to stop the assault. She then calls the toddler, who crawls to her. Both children can be heard crying as the footage ends, NDTV reported.

In another video submitted by the woman's husband, the accused is seen verbally abusing her mother-in-law.

As an official complaint was filed, representatives for the DCW questioned the two children about the incidents. The children told authorities this was not the first time their mother had beaten them up. They also said their father never assaulted them or their mother.

The woman's commission had planned to approach the child welfare committee for the safety of the siblings.

DCW chairperson Swati Maliwal has said she is very upset after seeing the footage.

"We have taken cognizance of this video. We have asked Delhi Police to take strict action against the woman and ensure a safe environment for the children," she reportedly said in a video message. "Just because we are the women's commission doesn't mean we cannot take action against women. We will stand against anybody who does wrong," she added.
