Mother Stabs, Kills 5-Year-Old Daughter At Park, Then Drives To Hospital With Her Body

A 35-year-old woman fatally stabbed her daughter inside a park in Texas. The mother then drove to a hospital with the child's body in the car.

She was detained by deputies Sunday.

The child, aged 5, was stabbed and killed by her mother in the Tomball area Sunday, officials said. The woman then went to a hospital and told the staff members about it, ABC13 Houston reported. She also told them her daughter's body was outside in a gray vehicle.

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said the 5-year-old "was transported to a hospital after allegedly being cut/stabbed by her mother while at Spring Creek Park (Tomball). The child has been pronounced deceased at a hospital."

The identities of the mother and child were not immediately released.

Medical personnel found the child with a stab wound to her neck, Sgt. Ben Beall, of the Harris County homicide unit, said. He added that the wound was consistent with the mother's account. However, officials did not reveal what kind of weapon was used by the woman, reported KHOU 11.

While speaking to Harris County deputies, the woman said she stabbed her daughter at Spring Creek Park. Deputies surveyed the area but did not find any signs suggesting a crime had taken place there.

Officials confirmed the child was not murdered inside the vehicle but were unsure exactly where the stabbing took place. It is also unclear if anybody witnessed the incident.

The sheriff's office said the woman has a history of homelessness. She could reportedly be charged with capital murder.

A similar incident was reported last year after a Texas woman stabbed her 7-year-old daughter and another 16-year-old boy. Troyshaye Hall, 23, was charged with capital murder for fatally stabbing the girl, Madison Petry, more than 30 times. She also faced a charge of aggravated assault for attacking the 16-year-old boy. Hall's mother and brother tried to stop her before she stabbed the two juveniles.
