Mother Suspected In Murder-Suicide Involving Her Children In Georgia
A mother is suspected to have killed her kids as part of a murder-suicide at their family home in Georgia.
The scene was discovered on Wednesday when police arrived at the Vinings, Georgia, home of 58-year-old Marsha Edwards for a wellness check. As officers checked the home, they stumbled upon the bodies of Edwards’ 20-year-old daughter, Erin Edwards, and 24-year-old son, Chris Edwards. Edwards’ own body was discovered shortly after that.
According to the Cobb County Police Department, all three bodies appeared to have died from gunshot wounds. However, Edwards’ wound appeared self-inflicted, unlike her children’s wounds. They also clarified they are still looking into a possible motive for Edwards’ actions in the apparent murder-suicide.
“Dr. Edwards, his extended family and friends are in a state of grief and shock, and privacy of the family is paramount as arrangements are being made,” a spokesperson for Dr. Chris Edwards said in a statement. Dr. Edwards is the ex-husband of Marsha Edwards and the father of Chris and Erin. He is also a prominent surgeon near Atlanta who sits on the Morehouse School of Medicine’s board of trustees.
The family as a whole was successful in their respective fields, as well.
Marsha Edwards was the founder of MME Enterprises, a medical supply company founded in 2015 that supplied hospitals and medical centers around the Atlanta area. And as for her children, Chris Edwards was a digital content manager for the Mayor's Office of Entertainment in Atlanta and Erin Edwards was attending Boston University and had interned at NBC New York.
