Mother Ties Daughter Up And Leaves Her Under Scorching Sun For Not Doing Homework
An Indian mother tied up her 5-year-old daughter and left her in the scorching sun as part of a punishment for not doing her homework.
The child was filmed writhing and squirming on the roof of the family’s home in Northeast Delhi.
A neighbor reportedly filmed the incident and captured the girl lying on the hot terrace with her hands bound. Investigators said the mother doled out the harsh punishment to her daughter on June 2, according to the Hindustan Times.

The child’s 39-year-old father works as a tailor and said he was out getting his bicycle repaired when the alleged incident took place. He said his wife was at home with their 11-year-old son and 5-year-old daughter at the time.
"I received a call from my father that my wife had given this severe punishment to our daughter and that I should come home. When I reached home, my father told me that he came home and saw the girl tied on the terrace, and freed her,” the father said, according to the outlet.
The father said his wife was trying to teach their daughter and punished her when she wouldn’t complete her homework.
“My wife got angry and punished her. When my father told me, I scolded my wife a lot that day but the next day, a relative from our village sent me the video. I scolded my wife,” the father added.
He noted that the child was left on the terrace for about 10 minutes and believes a minor boy living next door recorded the incident.
The video went viral on social media and sparked outrage against the mother’s actions.
“We took cognizance of the video going viral and started looking for the family ... After some time, one of the teams found the address. We went there and found the parents. An enquiry has been initiated in the matter. Legal action will be taken,” said a police officer, Sanjay Sain, according to The Indian Express.
Another officer said the stay-at-home mother will be questioned for the way she treated her daughter.
“She will be questioned about the incident. No arrest has been made. A case is being registered,” the officer reportedly said.
