Moto G5 Specs Leak: Will Come With Snapdragon 430, 2GB RAM And Smaller 5-Inch 1080p Display
Earlier this month, the prototype of the Moto G5 Plus was leaked online by a seller on a Romanian website. Today, the specs for the smaller Moto G5 have been leaked online as well.
The specifications for the 2017 Moto G5 was acquired from a database of a major Brazilian retailer by the Portugese website Technoblog. The leaked information states that the device will come with a 5-inch full HD 1080p display and will be powered by a Snapdragon 430 octa-core processor and an Adreno 505 GPU.
The Moto G5 is also listed as having 2GB of RAM and 32GB of on-board storage. As for cameras, it comes with a 13MP rear-facing shooter and a 5MP front-facing camera. The 2017 Moto G5 will be equipped with a 2,800 mAh battery and will come with Android 7.0 Nougat running out of the box.
If this newly leaked information is accurate, then the device wouldn’t be too much of an upgrade from its predecessor. The RAM, cameras and on-board storage are all the same with the Moto G4. The only real upgrade here might just be the octa-core Snapdragon 430 processor, as pointed out by Android Authority.
The battery in the Moto G5 is also 200 mAh less than what’s in the Moto G4. This would contradict FCC’s listing of 3,000 mAh. The Technoblog listing could have shown 2,800 mAh instead of 3,000 mAh to show the minimum capacity (specs that’s shown on the box) instead of the typical capacity (when battery cell is discharged), as speculated by GSM Arena. It’s possible that the smaller battery may have simply been a compromise due to the 5-inch Moto G5 also being smaller than the 5.5-inch Moto G4.
Unlike the Moto G5 Plus leak from earlier this month, no photos of the Moto G5 have surfaced yet. However, the regular G5 should come with the same design language with the only real difference being its smaller build.
