Motorola Droid announces its debut date
Verizon and Motorola launched their Droid Does campaign recently which caused a stir, and they are expected to announce details of the new Motorola Droid on October 28.
According to Information Week, Verizon Wireless will debut what it calls, the most desirable phone of 2009, for the first time at an event on October 28 in New York City.
In terms of specs, the Verizon Motorola Droid is quite impressive. The shape will be the same as that of the Motorola CLIQ. The touch display hides a full QWERTY keyboard offering you the best of both. Motorola's Droid will run on Google's Android 2.0 operating system and a 550MHz processor. It also comes with Bluetooth 2.1, USB 2.0, GPS and Wi-Fi.
Droid's screen measures 3.7-inches with 480 x 854 pixels resolution and a 16:9 aspect ratio. There is also a 5-megapixel camera offering, dual LED flash, autofocus and image stabilization.
Motorola had a megahit in 2005 with its Razr handset but has since failed to launch another that can reach its popularity. The mobile company hopes that Droid will boost the companies popularity against Apple which has dominated the smartphone market by selling a whopping 7.4 million iPhones sold last quarter.
