Lenovo-owned Motorola has sent out invites for what appears to be the announcement or possible launch date of the highly anticipated arrival of the foldable smartphone reminiscent of the iconic clamshell in earlier years – the Motorola Razr.

Motorola sent out invites to an event that will be held on Nov. 13, CNet reported. The invite features a save the date gif that shows what appears to be the Razr V3 being stripped of its casing and hinge, revealing what is believed to the rumored Razr foldable smartphone. The smartphone maker confirmed that indeed, the event is for the “ highly anticipated unveiling of a reinvented icon .”

The gif includes a blurb that says “an original unlike any other.” The blurb apparently swipes at the upcoming foldable's rivals like Samsung's redesigned Galaxy Fold and Huawei's Mate X foldable, both of which have unique designs different from the Razr.

The gif also features the event's date (“11-13-19”). The event is scheduled to happen at night, and will be held somewhere in downtown Los Angeles. Motorola's invitation states that the unveiling event will take attendees to “a journey through immersive experiences ” and will be entertained by special guests and musical performers.

Motorola promises that the announcement event will surprise everyone in attendance. “ You're going to flip, ” the invite said.

Rumored Specs

Previous reports have pegged the Razr foldable's screen size to be around 6.2 inches when unfolded. The device is expected to fold along a horizontal axis similar to the classic Razr, and will hide the display when closed. A smaller display, located at the back of the phone when opened, will serve to alert users of any notifications when the phone is folded.

The device will be powered by a Snapdragon 710 processor. It is expected to come with 4GB or 6GB of RAM, and either 64GB or 128GB of storage. It is said to have a 2,730 mAh battery, and will come in several colors. It is expected to be sold at around $1,500 at launch.

While the invite doesn't explicitly reveal any of the upcoming Razr foldable's specs, it's safe to assume that based on the invite, it will have a new hinge design specifically made for a foldable screen. Motorola hasn't released details yet, though, so it's best to just wait for the device to be revealed.
