Motorola Razr Specs, Design, Price Tag And Official Launch Date Revealed
Images of Motorola's upcoming foldable RAZR smartphone were leaked once again, just hours before the company’s official launch event in downtown Los Angeles. The latest photos came from the phone’s Federal Communications Commission certification.
MySmartPrice was the first online publication that spotted the new images and speculated the photos are pre-production samples. The new images don’t reveal much of the specs side, but it provided people another look at the upcoming phone in its folded and unfolded form. The latest leaked images, reportedly, matched earlier leaked images.
What the new Motorola Razr will bring
Based on the leaked images, the upcoming Razr phone will feature a USB-C port for data transfer and charging, but with no headphone jack, The Verge reported.
Like the Apple iPhone XS Max and Google Pixel 3 XL, the upcoming Razr will also use a notch at the top of the screen for the earpiece and probably for the selfie shooter. The phone will also bring a single rear-mounted camera setup and fingerprint scanner.
Aside from the noticeable notched display, the new Razr also features very prominent side hinges that cut into the side bezels of the device. However, the latest images don’t provide any clues about what that small button below the phone’s screen really does. Fortunately, the technology website The Verge made an interesting suggestion about that small button. The website suggests that the small button could act as both a capacitive fingerprint sensor and a power switch.
In addition to the leaked images, there were also some reports that said that the upcoming Razr phone will feature Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 mobile processor along with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. A model with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage will also be made available, the T3 reported.
The device will likely get its power from a 2,730mAh battery cell, which significant smaller than the battery used in the Huawei Mate X and Samsung Galaxy Fold. However, the device’s mobile chipset does not support Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ technology and, right now, it still unknown what kind of fast charging technology the upcoming Razr will support.
Earlier this month, XDA Developers Editor-in-Chief Mishaal Rahman posted a message on Twitter about a summary Motorola Razr specs. However, the tweet shows a different battery cell, instead of 2,730mAh, the device will bring a 2510mAh battery cell.
As for the software side, the upcoming Razr will not be able to run every Android app installed on the device. Instead, Motorola will be limiting the touchscreen to a selected few mobile apps, like the Moto Actions, the Moto Display, and the Moto Camera app.
Price tag and launch event
The new Motorola Razr will be a high-end smartphone with a price tag that competes with the likes of Apple’s iPhone and Samsung’s Galaxy Fold. An earlier report from The Wall Street Journal via Engadget suggested that the upcoming phone will be a Verizon Wireless exclusive and the new Razr will reportedly sell for approximately $1,500.
Motorola is expected to introduce the upcoming Razr phone on Nov. 13 at an event in Los Angeles, the CNET reported. Stay tuned for more additional details about the new Razr phone.
