Motorola’s Moto G5S Plus With Metal Body, Dual Cameras Leaks Online
The Moto G5S Plus has leaked online and it appears the handset will be Motorola’s first Android smartphone to feature a dual-camera setup. The leak arrives just a day after the smaller Moto G5S surfaced on the web.
The photos of the still-unannounced Moto G5S Plus were shared online by Gear India. The Moto G5S Plus will be the upgraded version of the Moto G5 which was announced earlier this year during Mobile World Congress 2017.
Unlike the original G5 Plus which featured an aluminum backplate and plastic sides, the Moto G5S Plus comes with a full-metal design and some antenna lines on the back. Although the materials have changed, the G5S Plus still carries over the same look of its predecessor.
The Moto G5S Plus comes with a 5.5-inch full HD 1080p LCD display. Up front is a capacitive home button which also doubles as the handset’s fingerprint scanner. The upcoming phone comes in four color options: gold, grey, silver (with white front) and gold (with white front).
As for internals, the Moto G5S Plus is believed to have an octa-core 64-bit processor. It remains to be seen whether Motorola will continue using the Snapdragon 625, or the faster Snapdragon 626. There was no information provided regarding the device’s RAM and storage capacity. What’s known for sure is that it will run Android 7.0 Nougat.
The biggest and most important improvement on the Moto G5S Plus is the addition of dual cameras on the back. Unfortunately, there’s no word yet on what kind of camera sensors and lenses Motorola is using.
The Moto G5S Plus could come with one color sensor and one monochrome sensor; the same setup that Huawei uses on its smartphones. Both cameras could also have separate color sensors, but one of them might come with a telephoto lens.
The addition of the dual cameras on the Moto G5S Plus will most likely affect its pricing. The regular Moto G5 Plus with 4GB RAM/64GB storage retails for $299. It’s possible that the G5S Plus might carry a $350 price tag, as pointed out by Android Central.
The Moto G5S Plus won’t actually be the only Motorola handset that will feature dual cameras this year. Last week, the Moto Z2 Force was also leaked showing that it will be equipped with dual cameras too.
As for the Moto G5S, the device was leaked online yesterday by Android Authority. Like the Plus model, the Moto G5S also comes with an all-metal design and those antenna lines. It comes with a 5.2-inch full HD 1080p display.
There’s no other confirmed specifications for the Moto G5S, but it will run Android 7.0 Nougat straight out of the box as well. The handset also comes with a single camera on the back, which should be the main differentiator between the G5S and the G5S Plus models.
There’s no information yet on how much the Moto G5S will cost, but its new metal unibody design and, presumably, upgraded internals should mean a bump in price from the regular G5.
With Motorola’s Moto G5S and Moto G5S Plus both leaking this week, it’s being speculated that an official announcement will be happening soon.
