Movies Coming Out In May 2017: 9 Theatrical Release Dates And Trailers
April may have not been the best month for movies but May is looking to be promising. The month kicks off with the highly anticipated “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,” which is already getting positive reviews, and continues with a number of comedies and action films. Check out these nine movies you can’t miss in May 2017.
“Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2” - May 5
It’s hard to follow the surprise success of the first “Guardians” movie but Chris Pratt and the rest of the cast hope to capture some of the same magic. Continuing their adventures from the first film, the team sets out to discover the mystery of Star-Lord’s parents.
“King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword” - May 12
Starring Charlie Hunnam is the titular character, a young Arthur learns the power of the Excalibur sword and must master it as he tries to defeat the tyrant Vortigern.
“Snatched” - May 12
The mother-daughter comedy stars Goldie Hawn and Amy Schumer whose vacation takes a turn for the worst after being kidnapped.
“Lowriders” - May 12
Starring Demián Bichir, Theo Rossi, Gabriel Chavarria and Eva Longoria, a teen must choose between his father or criminal brother when it comes to an annual lowrider event.
“Everything, Everything” - May 19
Starring Amandla Stenberg and Nick Robinson, “Everything, Everything” follows Maddy Whittier as a teen who lives a sheltered life due to her medical condition. Maddy eventually falls for the boy who moves in next door to her but her mother forbids the relationship.
“Alien: Covenant” - May 19
Ridley Scott returns to direct the sequel to 2012’s “Prometheus.” On their way to a remote planet, the crew of the Covenant ship discover what they believe to be an uncharted paradise. It is soon revealed that the world is inhabited by monstrous creatures.
“Diary Of A Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul” - May 19
Based on the book of the same name, the movie takes place after the events of “Dog Days,” as Greg Heffley (Jason Drucker) and brother try to convince their family to go on a roadtrip for their grandma’s 90th birthday but really want to go to a video game convention.
“Baywatch” - May 25
Based on the 1990s TV show, the film version stars Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron as lifeguards who must stop a criminal drug trafficking operation. The comedy also features Priyanka Chopra and Alexandra Daddario.
“Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” - May 26
The fifth installment in Disney’s “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise, the upcoming film finds Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) being pursued by Armando Salazar (Javier Bardem) and his Spanish Navy ghost crew as they look to kill every pirate at sea.
