‘Mr. Robot’ Season 2 Cast Expands With Four New Recurring Characters; What To Expect When The Show Returns
One of the most critically acclaimed and fan-beloved dramas to debut in 2015 is already making moves to expand its cast ahead of its big Season 2 premier. The Golden Globe-winning series “Mr. Robot” has cast four actors in recurring roles, giving some savvy fans a few hints about what to expect from the series’ second run.
Already, “Mr. Robot” has made some bold casting decisions in Season 2, such as the inclusion of funnyman Craig Robinson as the character Ray, who Variety reports is a neighborhood local who reaches out to the hacktivist star of the show. Deadline reported the USA drama has cast Dandrine Holt, Michael Maize, Dorothi Fox and Luke Robertson in recurring roles opposite star Rami Malek in Season 2. Holt will play Susan Jacobs, a general counsel for Evil Corp. who somehow fits into the hacker group, fsociety, and its grand plan. Maize is a character named Lone Star, a Texan and associate of Ray. Fox will play Nell, a no-nonsense mother of one of the fsociety members, Romero (Ron Cephas Jones). Finally, Robertson will play RT, a former employee of the main character, Elliot (Rami Malek).
As previously reported, series creator Sam Esmail teased the crowd at the 2015 New York Comic-Con about Season 2, saying it will be darker and explore the intricacies of how the fsociety, run by Mr. Robot (Christian Slater), came to be. As a result, it’s not surprising the group will be expanded heavily through the introduction of new characters.
“I don’t want you just to want to know what happens next,” Esmail previously told the crowd at Comic-Con. “I want you to want to know what came before.”
“Mr. Robot” Season 1 focused on Elliot as he worked as a cybersecurity engineer by day and vigilante “hacktivist” by night. Eventually, he’s recruited by Mr. Robot into his fsociety of hackers and is offered a chance to be a part of one of the biggest financial reboots in history. The plot slowly unfolds and Elliot, who is constantly struggling with social anxiety and depression, learns his role in the game is a lot bigger than he originally thought.
“Mr. Robot” is currently filming in New York. It is expected for a release this summer.
