MTV Movie Awards 2016: 6 Things To Be Excited For During The April 10 Show
The 2016 MTV Movie Awards don’t have to be live to keep viewers excited. The ceremony was filmed Saturday at the Warner Bros. lot in Burbank, California, so the winners aren’t really a surprise this year. But the awards show has still given fans reasons to tune in when it airs Sunday night. These are the things that we’re most excited to see:
1. Sneak-Peek Videos Galore — The MTV Movie Awards aren’t just honoring movies that already came out. They’re getting fans pumped for the blockbusters that have yet to hit the big screen. “Captain America: Civil War,” “Suicide Squad” and “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” will all debut exclusive footage at the event.
2. Performances — MTV might not be all about music anymore, but it still plays a big part. Ariana Grande will perform “Dangerous Woman” while Halsey sings “Castle.” Expect hosts Kevin Hart and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson to get a little musical at some point too.
3. Generation Award — Will Smith is the recipient of this year’s Generation Award. Queen Latifah and Halle Berry will present the “Suicide Squad” star with the statue, and The Lonely Island will honor him with a performance.
4. Comedic Genius Award — Melissa McCarthy is the third comedian and first female to receive this honor. The “Boss” star is one of the few nominees who get to know that they’re receiving the golden popcorn before it happens, so expect a fun speech.
5. Best Kiss — Rebel Wilson revealed on Instagram that she won the Best Kiss award with Adam Devine for “Pitch Perfect 2” and ripped her dress during their acceptance speech. It sounds like the duo planned something hilarious for their moment onstage.
6. Celebrities — Obviously, the ceremony has a guest list that includes tons of stars from the big screen, including Common, Anna Kendrick, Chris Hemsworth. However, they’ll be mingling with some MTV celebrities. Several “Teen Mom” personalities, including Farrah Abraham and Jenelle Evans, attended, while stars from scripted MTV hits — like “Awkward” actress Ashley Rickards and “Teen Wolf” actor Tyler Posey — also were seen on the red carpet.
The 2016 MTV Movie Awards air Sunday at 8 p.m. EDT on MTV. Find out how to live-stream the event here.
