MTV Video Music Awards 2015: Kanye West To Be Honored With Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award
Kanye West is receiving a major honor during the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards. The rapper has performed at the popular award show several times in the last few years and been nominated in various categories a whopping 32 times. Sadly, he has only taken home two Moon Men. This year the network has decided to honor West, 38, with one of their most prestigious awards.
According to MTV, the "All Day" Rapper will be taking the stage during the VMAs to accept the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. The award will commend the soon-to-be father of two for his contributions to the music business. Upon accepting his award West will join a long list of prestigious artists including Beyoncé, the Beastie Boys, Justin Timberlake and David Bowie, who have won in years past.
As is tradition, West will be taking the stage for a performance accompanying his acceptance. Few details are known, but we're crossing our fingers that he will perform a few songs off his new album, "Swish." According to Aug. 5 Tweets from Theophilus London, West previewed the album once more during OVO Fest attendees. The "Tribe" singer shared with fans that during the festival, which occurred from Aug. 1 to Aug. 3, West "played his album on repeat." He claimed the album was going to change the game for everyone.
It is not clear when West plans to release the album, but it appears he is proud of his latest project. He has previewed it several times and, fortunately, it seems London, 28, was there for a majority of them. In September 2014 MTV reported that the rapper shared a photo of he and West in Paris. The photo's caption suggested it had been taken shortly after the "Bound 2" rapper played the album on loop for about "20 people."
The 2015 MTV VMA's air Sunday, Aug. 31 on MTV at 9 p.m. EDT. The award show will be hosted by Miley Cyrus.
