The 2015 MTV Video Music Awards are behind us, but a few celebrities’ shocking red carpet looks will be burned into our memories for years to come. Several of our favorite stars graced the red carpet Sunday night at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles before heading inside for the main show.

A number of celebrities completely rocked the red carpet, like Nick Jonas in a brown leather jacket and matching pants, and Tori Kelly, who opted for short shorts and a floral nude mesh top. Other stars, however, like Miley Cyrus, in a custom-made barely-there Versace outfit and “Fly Away” singer Z LaLa, in a shimmery gold contraption, didn’t quite nail their VMA outfits.
