Muay Thai Friday Night Fights at Broad Street Ballroom
The Broad Street Ballroom in New York was the scene for a Friday Night Fights event in Muay Thai.
Chris Kwiatkowski (5-1-1, KO 3) defeated Joe Marchand Tipping (4-2, KO 3) in unanimous decision in the main event. The two welterweights exchanged kicks and attempted leg takedowns for much of the fight. Kwiatkowski frequently striked Marchard Tipping between each others kicks, while Marchard Tipping attempted to invoke Kwiatkowski with a series of unsuccessful kicks. Ultimately, Marchard Tipping succumbed to the force of Kwiatkowski's kicks and strikes.
A co-main events featured a pro super welterweight bout between Harris Norwood (9-2-2, KO 2) and Joe Sampieri (6-2). Norwood tried taking down Sampieri with kicks, but Sampieri was successful in blocking them. Sampieri was briefly knocked down after Norwood entrapped him with a right hand. The kicks continued from Norwood, but were tackled by Sampieri's leverage of sweeps, as Sampieri won by a unanimous decision.
The evening's initial pro fight featured two super heavyweights. Jarrell Miller of Lynbrook, New York, made his pro debut, against Radu Spinghel of Brooklyn, New York. The referee stopped the fight after the first round as Miller's strikes were too much for Sphingel.
The amateur and professional fights were televised on SNY in New York.
