'The Munster' To Arrive On Netflix Alongside 'Wednesday,' Director Rob Zombie Reveals

"The Munsters" is coming to Netflix. Rob Zombie has announced that the movie is set to land on the streaming platform alongside "Wednesday."

The 57-year-old director also shared his excitement about releasing the film during fall, hinting that it might come out around Halloween.

Zombie took to Instagram Monday to share a series of images showing the characters of "The Munsters" and some promotional magazine pages from 1964.

The left-hand side of the first image is a "The Munsters" poster featuring Herman, Lily and Grandpa who are played by Sheri Moon Zombie, Jeff Daniel Phillips and Daniel Roebuck, respectively. On its right-hand side, one can see the poster for "Wednesday," the horror comedy film based on "The Addams Family" character Wednesday.

The next images are of promotional materials for the original "The Munsters" series, including one for when the show first aired.

"This fall we are gonna spook-out like it's 1964!" Zombie wrote in the caption. "Yep, THE MUNSTERS and THE ADDAMS FAMILY are returning to the boob tube at the same time courtesy of @netflix."

"Perfect entertainment for your pumpkin carving party," he added. "Check out this wicked fall preview issue of TV Guide for the 64-65 season I found while cleaning."

Fans took to the comments section to share their reactions to the director's announcement.

"No theater release? That sucks," one of them said, while another noted, "Oh man ! I was hoping it was going to be in theatres!"

Many more fans shared how upset they were to learn the movie would not be shown in theaters.

"The Munsters" is a reboot of the 1960s sitcom of the same title. The original series featured a family that was quite different. The father, Herman, looked like Frankenstein's monster, while Lily and Grandpa were vampires. Herman and Lily shared a son named Eddie, who was a werewolf. The first episode of the series, which aired on the CBS network, came out on Sept. 24, 1964.

Zombie created a buzz in April when he dropped the first look at Lily Munster's werewolf brother, who is portrayed by Tomas Boykin.

The director also introduced Igor, a new character played by Sylvester McCoy.

Besides directing, Zombie also wrote the upcoming movie.
