Lenovo announced at the MWC 2022 in Barcelona that a new model of ThinkBook will be coming out soon.
The ThinkBook Plus Gen 3 isn’t exactly new as eager enthusiasts were able to get a glimpse of the new laptop during CES 2022. But this time, Lenovo gave MWC’s attendees another preview of its upcoming entry to the ThinkBook lineup.
With a stunning, ultra-wide display and an innovative secondary screen, the ThinkBook Plus Gen 3 might be the perfect option for professionals who are in need of a portable device that can do some real heavy lifting. Read on and take a closer look at what this new machine offers.
Unique Dual-Screen Setup
One of the more stand-out features of the ThinkBook Plus Gen 3 is the 17.3-inch ultra-wide 3K screen. Not many laptops come with a monitor this big, especially not at 3K resolutions. Having this much screen space is excellent for graphics designers and video editors as it provides plenty of room to place some important windows in.
To make this even better, an extra 8-inch vertical LCD display is fitted on the right-hand side of the keyboard. This touch-enabled display can do a lot. It can be used as an extension to the main screen for seamless document scrolling, image extensions and more. The screen can also be configured to act as a numpad, a calculator or a quick-access screen that holds shortcuts to other important files or apps. It can even sync and mirror content from smartphones.
Of course, the extra space allotted for the larger main display and the secondary screen means that the ThinkBook Plus Gen 3 is much bigger than some of the other options in the market. Those who want a work laptop that’s easier to carry may want to look at something else, although the advantages offered by the larger display and secondary screen can outweigh the negatives.
Systems and Specifications
The Lenovo ThinkBook Plus Gen 3 is fitted with Intel’s 12th-generation i7 CPUs for those lightning-fast response times on processor-heavy apps. This is complemented by up to 32GB of RAM and PCIe SSD of up to 1TB.
As for the main screen, it has a maximum resolution of 3072x1440 at a 120Hz refresh rate. This combo offers crystal-clear image quality with great frame rates for videos. Meanwhile, the onboard Intel Iris Xe graphics chip can provide solid performance in the usual GPU-heavy apps as well as in lightweight gaming.
Lastly, the battery is rated at 69WHr. Lenovo officially capped the laptop’s battery life at around 11 hours’ worth of continuous use, but keep in mind that there are plenty of factors that can drastically affect this.
The Verdict
Though it’s bulkier than most other laptops out there, the ThinkBook Plus Gen 3 can be a creative professional’s best friend at work. The ultra-wide screen does many favors for those who love multitasking, and the secondary screen is the cherry on top of an already impressive package. Due to this, we’ve decided to give this laptop our Best of MWC 2022 award.
