The biggest myth in “MythBusters” history has finally been debunked. During an interview with Entertainment Weekly (in regards to the show’s new season, which will premiere Saturday, Jan. 10), Adam Savage, co-host of the long-running Discovery Channel series, revealed the truth about his relationship with fellow myth-busting partner Jamie Hyneman.

This question of whether they're friends has been eating away at fans since rumors surfaced that the two Discovery Channel stars didn’t get along. In fact, the speculation got so widespread that it became a popular search on Google. When “Adam and Jamie Mythbusters” is typed into the Google search bar, one of the first results questions if the duo really does “hate each other.”

Hyneman addressed this very question during an interview with Access Hollywood in March. He explained that they find themselves stepping on each other's toes more often than not. “We get on each other’s nerves and everything all the time, but whenever that happens, we say so and we deal with it and move on,” he explained. “There are times that we really dislike dealing with each other, but we make it work.”

After Hyneman’s statement, fans shifted their attention to Savage, who recently responded to the rumor without hesitation. “It’s not something I mind talking about because I actually think there’s very useful information there. It is true that we’re not friends. We know as much or more about each other than even close friends do because we’ve been at the center of this show for the last 12 years,” Savage admitted during his interview with Entertainment Weekly. “That, again, is informed by a deep amount of respect.”

Savage continued to explain that he and Hyneman face difficulties, opportunities, challenges and conflicts daily. “We disagree about the small details every single day — on almost on every, single detail. But we don’t really disagree about the big stuff,” he revealed.

The “big stuff” Savage is referring to is the ethics of the show. “Everyone in the world wants us to ‘bust myths’ about their product. We’ve turned down just gobs of money to not do that because we have our integrity. We only get to spend that [integrity] coin once," he said, adding, "We don’t disagree about that. And I’m so glad we never disagree about turning that stuff down."

The “MythBusters” co-host concluded the discussion by saying that he and Hyneman are on the same page with regards to keeping their show honest and fair, and that the conflict between them is “relatively minor.”

“And not only is it minor, but when someone is always checking and challenging your work, it brings an integrity to the work when you’re going to have to defend the way you want to do something,” he said.
