Nancy Pelosi Is Beating Melania, Ivanka Trump In This COVID-19 Gear
KEY POINTS
- Nancy Pelosi is giving Melania and Ivanka Trump run for their money by wearing cool masks while making appearances on TV and photographs
- The speaker buys her masks from a man named Chris Lewis, who owns a clothing boutique in Virginia
- This is not the first Pelosi has started a trend. In 2019, a long turtleneck coat made huge waves when she was seen wearing it after a meeting with Donald Trump
When the world is going through a rough patch because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the one thing that has managed to stay relevant in such distressing times is fashion. Nancy Patricia Pelosi, the Speaker of the House, has made face masks a trend, even overshadowing Melania and Ivanka Trump, when it comes to making a fashion statement.
No one would have ever thought there will be a time when face masks would become a trend. But the pandemic has forced everyone to buy masks and wear them every time they step outside their homes. Chris Lewis, who runs a small boutique in Virginia, thought of making masks amid the pandemic. But he never thought that his masks would become so famous that celebrities and politicians will come up to have some.
Lewis’s moment of glory came when Pelosi requested him to make some masks for her. In an interview with CNN, Lewis noted that the day people got to know that Pelosi was using his masks, the demand went off the roofs.
Pelosi has turned out to be one of the politicians who love to stay updated with the current trends. The way she has been dressing in the past few weeks while making appearances in various interviews and photographs, makes everyone believe that she could be the next fashion icon from the field of politics.
In the past few weeks, she has been matching her outfits to suit the color of the face masks. Her style quotient is closely being monitored by the media. On May 13, the former first lady of the United States, Hilary Clinton, shared an image of Pelosi on her Instagram in which she can be seen wearing a pink pantsuit and a face mask of the same color.
Clinton praised her sense of style on social media and fans also showered her with comments. The post garnered more than 280,000 likes and since then, Pelosi has given many fashionable moments like these.
Pelosi is outshining Melania and Ivanka Trump in terms of fashion. The first lady of the U.S. donned a white shirt beneath a mask of the same color in the month of April while appearing in a video. On the other hand, Ivanka wore a black mask with a black jumpsuit during one of her meetings.
But none of them have been able to embrace masks as Pelosi has. In the same interview with CNN, Lewis noted that he is now getting orders of masks from around the world. He further stated that people from New Zealand, Singapore, and Australia have been placing orders in large quantities.
“Oh, all over. Singapore, New Zealand, Australia, Europe. She has quite a following,” Lewis said.
This is not the first time that Pelosi has made a fashion statement. In Dec. 2018, she wore an orange coat while coming out of the White House after meeting President Donald Trump. Known as the “fire coat,” a lot of people inquired about the attire and wanted to know about it.
It went to the extent that the Italian fashion house had to announce that it would be reissuing the funnel-neck design in the trademark red-orange color.
