Nancy Pelosi Wears Same Outfit To Oversee Trump's Second Impeachment As She Wore For His First
KEY POINTS
- Nancy Pelosi wore the same dark suit to Donald Trump's second impeachment as she did during the first one
- Pelosi's office confirmed that it was indeed the same outfit
- She paired her black, two-piece skirt suit with a gold necklace and a floral mask
The House of Representatives on Wednesday approved an article of impeachment against President Donald Trump for inciting violence at the Capitol on Jan. 6. However, some noticed one interesting detail while watching the proceedings, and it had something to do with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s outfit.
Pelosi’s dark suit became a topic of discussion after speculations arose that she was wearing the same ensemble that she donned during Trump’s first impeachment in 2019—and it turns out she was.
Pelosi’s office confirmed to People that she wore the same attire on Dec. 18, 2019, when the House passed two articles of impeachment against the president for obstruction of justice and abuse of power.
She also wore a black, two-piece skirt suit, which she paired with a gold necklace and a floral mask, as she presided over Wednesday's House impeachment vote. However, the golden mace brooch was missing this time around. The Ann Hand brooch was inspired by the mace of the House, which dates back to 1841, according to The Washington Post.
Pelosi has become known for her fashion sense and has given some striking looks over the years.
Last year, a number of media outlets and fashion icons suggested that her outfits, especially her choice of mask, are creating a stir among the youngsters. She even overshadowed Melania and Ivanka Trump when it comes to making a fashion statement.
Pelosi has been matching her outfits with her face masks since the start of the pandemic, something that garnered praise from former first lady Hillary Clinton. In May 2020, she shared a picture of Pelosi on her Instagram in which she can be seen wearing a pink pantsuit and a face mask of the same color. The post has more than 280,000 likes on the image-sharing platform.
The Washington Post called her a “fashion icon.” At the time, stylist Julia Perry told the outlet that it’s really exciting to see Pelosi wearing such amazing outfits.
“It’s really exciting — anything that bucks ageism! Young women are looking up to Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Nancy Pelosi and Brigitte Macron. This is women of a certain age who are earning their platform,” Perry said.
