“Narcos: Mexico” Season 2 is set for a February 2020 release date. Scoot McNairy’s character Walt Breslin, who was introduced in the previous season, will be back next year to play a big role as the hunt for the leaders of the drug cartels continues.
The fans will know McNairy as the narrator of the show who was revealed to be a character only in the last scene. According to The Hollywood Reporter, he will play a bigger role in the TV series in the next season. The first look picture of the character that has been released online shows him holding up a picture of Kiki Camarena (Michael Peña).
Walt is the new DEA agent who has arrived in Guadalajara to head Operation Layenda. He will be in charge of a group that will be tasked with bringing to justice the criminals responsible for the drug related murders.
According to the official character description of Walt for “Narcos: Mexico” Season 2, he is a “hardened DEA agent whose methods aren’t always by the book.” The character has already teased that the department is at war after a brutal murder, and the cartel will start feeling the heat when the show returns.
Along with the war against the cartel, the next season will also shed some light on the mistakes that were made on both sides of the border that led to the ultimate failure of the war on drugs. Showrunner Eric Newman explained that it was important to explore the historical context of the this war to better understand the situation today.
Diego Luna will be reprising his role as Miguel Ángel Félix Gallardo, Entertainment Weekly reported. Félix is the leader of the Guadalajara cartel.
“Narcos: Mexico” Season 2 will be release on Feb. 13, 2020. According to Screen Rant, the spin-off series is better than the original series that was about Pablo Escobar (Wagner Moura).
