“Narcos” Season 3 will continue to tackle issues and problems involving drugs.

“Narcos” shared a new clip on its official Twitter account showing Wagner Moura, who played kingpin Pablo Escobar in the series, opening up about the what happens after the death of his character. He said that even though Pablo died in the Season 2 finale, the drug problems will persist even after his death.

“It didn’t change anything. Killing drug dealers is not the solution for the problem of the drug trade,” Moura explained. “After Pablo, you had Cali, after Cali, Mexico, after Mexico, you know...This is not going to end with this policy of ‘War on Drugs.’”

In addition, Moura shared that playing Pablo in the crime TV series was life-changing. “Oh it changed a lot,” the “Narcos” star said. “I mean it was a big commitment for me. Living there and doing a series about the drug trade was important to me and important in my daily life.”

Even if his character was killed off in the last season, Moura is still excited for “Narcos” Season 3. He understood that the idea of the series was to follow the drug trade and that Pablo was just a part of the big picture. He added that he was also looking forward to what would happen next in the series.

When asked about his favorite memory while filming “Narcos,” Moura mentioned the places where they shot the series. “My favorite memory was living in Bogota, living in Colombia, though it was tough and we were dealing with a very tough scar in Colombian history. It was very important for me,” he said.

Initially, viewers were disheartened when Pablo died because the series revolved around him, but the production had already plotted his fate. “From the beginning when we decided to call the show ‘Narcos’ and not Pablo Escobar, I had always had in mind to tell the continuing story of cocaine,” exec Eric Newman told The Hollywood Reporter. “Jose [Padilha], Doug [Miro], Carlo [Bernard] and I wanted to tell a story about the drug war and never just about one person or organization. We had always planned on continuing on.”

The teaser for “Narcos” Season 3 featured Pablo slowly fading away from the screen with the words, “The blow must go on.” It showed a new face, likely the person expected to be the new kingpin in the series. The new season will apparently focus on cocaine and corruption.

“Narcos” Season 3 has no premiere date yet, but the series is expected to return on Netflix in August or September.
