A Tennessee man accused of grabbing a teen girl on the street on Sunday was tackled by the girl’s father and other bystanders.

Eric Craig was held down until police officers arrived at the scene. The authorities said he grabbed the teen on Broadway near a lot of the honky-tonky bars in Nashville.

When the police arrived on the scene, they found the girl’s father had pinned Craig to the ground.

Craig has since been taken into custody and charged with assault. The affidavit claimed he grabbed the teen by the shoulder and spun her around to face him.

Craig told the authorities he just wanted to tell the girl she looked cute and that’s when the teen’s father and other bystanders grabbed him.

A spokeswoman from the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department told media outlets Craig was homeless.

Witness accounts from the incident claimed Craig looked like he wanted to say something lewd to the girl. He did not manage to finish the statement because he was already on the ground.

According to Fox News Craig, who is 38 was booked into Nashville Metro Jail. The bail was set at $1,500 according to the arrest records.

The arrest records further mentioned the homeless man is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 20th.

The charges could bear more weight considering his victim was a 14-year-old girl with the implication the man had sexual intent. The fact he is homeless does not help his circumstances because a public defender will most likely represent him.

Some of the more recent accounts of sexual assault or groping in Nashville both occurred on an aircraft.

Danish golf star, Thorbjorn Olesen was charged with sexual assault by beating and being drunk on a plane during a flight coming from Nashville. He has since claimed he is pleading not guilty to the charges.

Another man, Alfredo Vela, was charged with groping a woman inappropriately during a flight from Houston to Nashville. The woman he groped told the authorities she did not consent to the inappropriate touching. They were waiting at the gate when the passengers disembarked.

In either case, the men either took advantage of their altered state, the docility of the women involved or potential privacy.

In this case, both the man and the underage girl were fully conscious, and the act was in public. That would perhaps lead to a case to question the mental state of Eric Craig concerning his crime.
