“Nashville” Season 3, episode 12 is going to throw Rayna (Connie Britton) some curveballs, and she may not be able to handle them. She has to figure out how to make her first public appearance since her breakup with Luke (Will Chase), but a different ex might cause her trouble. In new sneak-peek videos, Rayna realizes it doesn’t matter whether the breakup is public or private -- it’ll still hurt.

Sneak Peek No. 1

With her newfound mainstream celebrity status comes the rumor mill. Rayna’s manager Bucky (David Alford) is getting seriously worried about the rumors flying about Rayna. Some people believe she is too brokenhearted to leave the house, while others think she is in rehab. That means it’s time for Rayna to make a public appearance. Unfortunately, her goals aren’t as big and flashy as Bucky would like them to be.

“Steve Wynn called. He has offered you a residency in Vegas,” Bucky says.

“Vegas is the last thing that I need right now,” Rayna says.

“How about we do something closer to home? Local concert. LP Field. I’m-single-and-lovin’-it-girl-power . . .”

“Who are you?” Rayna says with a laugh. “What have you done with Bucky? No!”

Bucky explains that Luke is back in the public eye and appears to have rebounded since the breakup. She could be perceived the wrong way if she isn’t out and about.

“I’m happy to perform,” Rayna says. “Let’s play the Bluebird. That would be perfect.”

Bucky agrees, but he isn’t exactly excited about it. Rayna doesn’t see this as the same public-relations opportunity that Bucky does. “I would like to do it as an unannounced performance, and if the media picks it up, great. We killed two birds with one stone,” Rayna says.

Sneak Peek No. 2

Rayna has another ex to deal later. Even though she admitted that she loved Deacon (Charles Esten) last week, Rayna seems to be distraught by her relationship with him. While in the car with Sadie (Laura Benanti), the singer admits it’s hard to be friends with Deacon.

“You were right, there’s just too much history in there,” Rayna says.

“You’re talking about Deacon?” Sadie asks.

“Our lives are completely connected,” Rayna says. “Anyway, I’m sorry.”

Rayna asks Sadie to tell a friend that she left.
