‘Nashville’ Season 4 Spoilers: Episode 5 Synopsis Released; What Will Happen In ‘Stop The World (And Let Me Off)’? [PHOTOS & VIDEO]
The Highway 65 artists will cause plenty of drama in “Nashville” Season 4, episode 5. While Layla’s (Aubrey Peeples) relationship with Jeff (Oliver Hudson) shocks Rayna (Connie Britton), she’ll have bigger problems when Markus’ (Riley Smith) diva behavior begins. Meanwhile, her daughter Maddie (Lennon Stella) takes a trip with her boyfriend in this episode, titled “Stop the World (And Let Me Off).”
At the record label, Rayna will discover that Layla and Jeff are dating after their kiss at the Grand Ole Opry, and she won’t like it. However, this is one instance where Rayna won’t keep her mouth shut. She “pushes back on Layla’s romantic relationship,” according to the synopsis. Will Rayna try to get her artist to break up with the slimy manager?
The veteran singer might get distracted when Markus shows his attitude while recording. “Markus pushes back on his producer, Avery — which does not go well,” the synopsis teases. Avery (Jonathan Jackson) just can’t seem to catch a break in his professional or personal life. His wife will still be avoiding him and their baby, but she’ll be with Rayna’s daughter.
Juliette (Hayden Panettiere) will meet up with Maddie when she comes to see her tour with Luke (Will Chase). Maddie is with her boyfriend Colt (Keean Johnson), but Luke might not be a stickler for parental supervision. The trip allows “more freedom than Maddie can handle,” and she will turn to Juliette for some advice. Juliette’s idea of good advice is very different from Rayna and Luke’s. In the promo video, Luke seems furious with Juliette. “Don’t go trying to play cool mom with somebody else’s kid just because you’ve abandoned your own,” Luke tells her.

Scarlett (Clare Bowen) and Deacon (Charles Esten) will also be forced to reunite in this episode. They’ll go to Natchez, where Beverly (Dana Wheeler-Nicholson) was living before she died. While Scarlett deals with family drama, her ex-boyfriend Gunnar (Sam Palladio) will be trying to get over her. Will (Chris Carmack) and Kevin (Kyle Dean Massey) will be his wingmen as he tries to get a new girlfriend.
“Nashville” Season 4, episode 5 airs Wednesday at 10 p.m. EDT on ABC.
