‘Nashville’ Season 4 Spoilers: New Promo Video Is Missing Deacon, But Shows Scarlett And Gunnar's Romance
“Nashville” Season 4 is almost here, and that means spoilers are coming! ABC released the first promo for the country drama’s new episodes Thursday, and it shows plenty of drama for all of Music City’s citizens. However, one person is missing: Deacon (Charles Esten).
Though Deacon is shown in flashbacks to last season, no new footage with the guitarist is shown. “I’ve had to do a lot of letting go lately,” Rayna (Connie Britton) says. The famous singer is seen sleeping alone in her bed too. Did he die in last season’s finale? Audiences last saw a heart monitor flatline while Deacon was getting surgery, but it wasn’t clear if it was him or his sister Beverly (Dana Wheeler-Nicholson) that was in trouble. His absence might not mean his death. ABC likely wants to keep fans guessing. Deacon could just be recovering in the hospital.
Meanwhile, Juliette’s (Hayden Panettiere) goal to make a post-pregnancy comeback seems to be going just as planned. She is shown at the premiere of her Patsy Cline movie and singing with Steven Tyler. However, her life in front of the cameras is clearly different from her life backstage. “Maybe she’s happier without us,” Avery (Jonathan Jackson) says to their baby. They’ll definitely have some marital problems in Season 4.
The trailer also Juliette having a breakdown in a bathroom, and it’s clear that she hasn’t dealt with her postpartum depression yet. Luckily, Rayna might start to realize that Juliette’s recent actions aren’t part of her usual dramatic behavior. “Something is really wrong,” she says.
Scarlett (Clare Bowen) and Gunnar (Sam Palladio) also make an appearance in the 30-second video. Though they didn’t kiss in the finale, it looks like they’ll make out in the “Nashville” Season 4 premiere. Scarlett reminds Gunnar that she has a boyfriend, but her songwriting partner doesn’t seem to care too much.
“Then why do you keep ending up here with me?” Gunnar asks before he kisses her.
