Natalie Portman matched the charity donations made to Susan Burton’s A New Way of Life foundation on her birthday.

On Tuesday (June 9), the “Black Swan” actress turned 39 years old. Portman decided to celebrate her birthday in a different way — by matching donations to Burton’s organization that supports women who are trying to break the cycle of entrapment in the criminal justice system.

Portman announced it on Instagram along with a photo of her and Burton.

“For my birthday this year, I will be matching donations to Susan Burton's @anewwayoflifela, up to $100k (for the next 24 hours),” Portman wrote.

“I am in deepest gratitude for Susan's work, which helps heal our broken world.”

According to Portman, after she read Burton’s book “Becoming Ms. Burton,” she committed herself to supporting the New Way of Life organization that helps incarcerated women by providing them with a safe place to sleep and a chance to rebuild their lives.

Portman recognized the significance of the organization because the majority of the woman it caters to have children and are victims of physical assault. Furthermore, when those women are released, they are forced to start their lives without any resources.

“While there are so many great organizations fighting for racial justice, @anewwayoflifela is Susan’s solution to ending mass incarceration and healing communities,” the actress added.

Burton’s organization shared Portman’s message on its own Instagram account.

“In honor of her birthday today, our wonderful friend and supporter @natalieportman will be matching all donations to our organization up to $100K for the next 24 hours. That means you double your impact by donating today. Thank you so much, Natalie, and happy birthday!” the organization wrote.

In related news, Portman shared a rare picture of her children on Mother’s Day. In the snap, Portman is seen cuddling Amalia, 3, who was still an infant in the photo, while planting a kiss on her son Aleph’s cheek.

She also paid a sweet tribute to her own mom, whom she considers the most loving, caring, generous, cuddly, funny, smart, talented and creative person she could imagine.

“My first blessing in life was to be born to my mom,” Portman wrote.

“And now I’m blessed by my kids who turned me into a mom and make me smile and laugh every single day — and who make me appreciate my mom even more for all the invisible things she did for me that I realize now as I try to live up to her mothering. #mothersday,” she added.
