National Bartender Day: Bursting Myths About Barkeeping And Quotes Honoring The Profession
National Bartender Day is marked on Dec. 2 to celebrate the efforts of the professionals whose playful movements create the fanciest cocktails.
The day gives people a reality check that behind all that glitz and glamour, there is a lot of hard work involved in the profession. It honors the professionals who invent such amazing cocktails that don't fail to impress the bargoers.
Bar counters would make no sense without the professionals there and if there's anyone who energizes the club-goers to hit the dancefloor, it's only them. Making cocktails may seem easy but acquiring full-on bartending skills is a different ballgame. Plus, there are a lot of looming myths surrounding the profession to make look easy.
This day particularly aims to shed light on a few unknown facts about the bartending profession in order to change the perception that it's a cakewalk to be a bartender. Here are some facts that need to be busted on National Bartender Day:
Bartending is easy: It's a bartender's job to be patient with every customer and that's even when they are thoroughly wasted. It's not as easy as popping open a new champagne bottle!
Bartenders are always chatty: Contrary to how they are portrayed in television dramas, bartenders are anything but chatty people who are always drunk. They really can't pass time chatting with the regulars when the counter is overwhelmed by customers.
It is a side gig: Bartending may be a side gig for many but then there are people who take up this profession as their sole livelihood. And to do so, they undergo years of professional training.
They get tipsy from straw-tasting cocktails: Bartenders take a tiny sip with a straw to make sure their drink is perfect with the right proportions of everything. In doing so, they barely get tipsy because the small amount of alcohol has little impact on their blood-alcohol level.
With all the above points in mind, here are some quotes that prove it only takes dedicated people to take up the bartending profession: (Courtesy: A to Z Quotes)
