National Blueberry Popsicle Day: Yummy Recipe To Enjoy On A Warm Summer Afternoon
Popsicles are a combination of color, taste and fun. Nothing hits the spot better than an ice pop to cool down summer exhaustion and we are never quite bored with them. Aside from being a quick escape from the hot and sticky weather, popsicles have some practical utilities, especially for moms who sneak healthy fruits into them for the fussy juniors. And in case you like someone in your high school, striking a conversation is just a popsicle away!
Popsicles, one of the most iconic summer treats, have received many creative spins for years but the blueberry popsicles are the hands-down favorite from people of all age groups. These are in fact tropical treats that can be easily made at home to be served at parties. It's something one can enjoy all summer long and still want more.
The blueberry variant of the popsicles has a rather interesting story behind its origin. It was invented accidentally in 1905 by an 11-year-old California boy Frank Epperson. Epperson, intending to make himself some icy drink, stirred in some blueberry-flavored powdered soda in a glass of water but instead of guzzling it down, he left the stirring on the front porch where it lay overnight in the freezing temperature and turned into a popsicle - the first of its kind in the history of ice pops.
On National Blueberry Popsicle Day, which falls on Sept. 2, we dug up a special homemade popsicle recipe for you and it is as follows. Bonus: the recipe contains mangoes. (Courtesy: Tasty)
