Every year, United States celebrates Oct. 29 as National Cat Day. The day was started in 2005 by animal welfare advocate Colleen Paige with an intention to not only honor the feline friends but also to spread awareness about cat adoption.

12. “Perhaps it is because cats do not live by human patterns, do not fit themselves into prescribed behavior, that they are so united to creative people.” –Andre Norton

13. “Cats possess so many of the same qualities as some people that it is often hard to tell the people and the cats apart.” — P.J. O’Rourke

15. “I've found that the way a person feels about cats-and the way they feel about him or her in return-is usually an excellent gauge by which to measure a person's character.” — P.C. Cast
