Of all the desserts ever made, cheesecakes enjoy a special kind of popularity for two reasons -- they are easy to make and soothe the soul.

The decadent and delicious cheesecakes give a healthy sugar fix so weight watchers don't have to limit themselves to just one bite.

The sweet treat, which the confectionary shelves at baker shops make a proud display of, is fundamentally made of graham cracker crust with smooth, creamy vanilla filling and fruity toppings.

The National Cheesecake Day, which falls on July 30, celebrates America's favorite dessert and encourages people to eat them to their fill.

Ingredients needed for crust:

  • Graham cracker
  • Butter
  • Sugar
  • Salt

Ingredients needed for filling:

  • Cream cheese
  • Sugar
  • Sour cream
  • Vanilla extract
  • Eggs

How to make a cheesecake:

To make this recipe, you will have to first make sure the graham cracker crust is well-ground. You can use a food processor or a blender to achieve a fine texture. Then mix your crumbs with melted butter, granulated sugar, and a little kosher salt. Press the crumbs into the bottom and halfway up the sides of a 9-inch springform pan. Press the crumb spread with the bottom of a glass to flatten it well. Make sure the sides are removed and the base is perfectly intact.

How to make the filling:

Make sure all the ingredients are at room temperature to get a perfect bake. It will also ensure the batter doesn't get lumpy. Combine the ingredients of the filling well and once it's lump-free, spread it evenly on top of the crust, flattening it out with a spatula.

Double wrap the bottom of your pan in foil. This step ensures your cheesecake doesn't get soggy while being baked in a water bath. Now, place the pan containing the crust into a bigger pan filled with very hot water and carefully place it in the oven. Bake it for 60 -70 minutes, without interfering with the baking process. Check after the 60-minute mark. Allow the cheesecake to cool at room temperature for about an hour and put it in the refrigerator for 6 hours to chill. Let it sit overnight into the freezer and serve it the next morning.
