December is the season of food, light, merry-making and all things beautiful. With Christmas and New Year's Eve just around the corner, it's time to refill the cookie jars and hunt for some baking guidance on the internet.

Many might argue that cookies can be made all year round but for some reason, people undeniably gravitate toward baking and eating cookies during this month. So, there can be no better month than December to celebrate National Cookies Day. The occasion can be used to make batches of cookies for the upcoming celebrations.

National Cookie Day is observed on Dec. 4 to celebrate the sweet treat in all its forms. The crunchy and unique confection was introduced in the country in the late 1620s by the Dutch. The earliest reference to cookies in America was in 1703 when the Dutch provided 800 cookies at a funeral.

To mark this occasion, here are some quotes that prove cookies are unmatchable. (Courtesy: Brainyquote.com, Foodtruckempire.com, )
