Saturday is National Frozen Yogurt Day, an unofficial holiday marked to celebrate the sweet icy dessert. The first frozen yogurt was made by dairy company H.P. Hood in 1970 in the United States.

Initially, it was made as a soft-serve treat called Frogurt. Later, ice cream makers such as Humphreys and Dannon released their own versions of the frozen yogurt. In the 1980s, the popularity of frozen yogurt increased and different flavors, along with many toppings, hit the market.

Here are some quotes, courtesy Brainy Quotes, to mark this day:

1. "I opened up a frozen-yogurt business out of college. I didn't finish college; I went halfway, and then I worked for Joel Silver, the producer, as a driver for a year." – Greg Grunberg

2. "I'm obsessed with frozen yogurt because you don't feel totally guilty eating it. It's not as bad as ice cream, and during the hot summer months, it's a great way to just refresh." – Caroline Sunshine

3. "I try to eat as near perfect as possible, but once in a while I eat for my taste buds. For example, I occasionally like to treat myself to a small cup of chocolate frozen yogurt - plus toppings." – David H. Murdock

4. "The best food I've had in Lexington is Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt. It's non-guilt ice cream!" John Calipari
