National Honesty Day is observed annually on April 30 to remind people how important it is to be truthful. Whether it's in the personal life or professional, honesty can help a person go a long way.

The day was created in the early 1990s by "The Book of Lies" author M. Hirsh Goldberg.

Here are some one-liners to share with everyone on this day, courtesy Great Expectations:

1. "Honesty is the first chapter in the book of wisdom." – Thomas Jefferson

2. "A half truth is a whole lie." – Yiddish Proverb

3. "Every lie is two lies, the lie we tell others and the lie we tell ourselves to justify it." – Robert Brault

4. "Integrity is telling myself the truth. And honesty is telling the truth to other people." – Spencer Johnson

5. "Honesty is the best policy." – William Shakespeare

6. "Honesty is more than not lying... It is truth telling, truth speaking, truth living, and truth loving." – James E Faust

7. "No legacy is so rich as honesty." – William Shakespeare, "All's Well That Ends Well"

8. "It takes strength and courage to admit the truth." – Rick Riordan, "The Red Pyramid"

9. "Honest people don't hide their deeds." – Emily Brontë, "Wuthering Heights"
