National I Love You Day: History Of The Occasion, Quotes About Family Love
National I Love You Day is celebrated in the U.S. on Oct. 14 every year. This day isn't solely for couples, as the "love" it pertains to has a wider implication. In fact, the occasion outwits the notion that love is limited only to those who are romantically involved or are bound by blood, and it encourages every person to say "I love you" to whoever they hold dear.
The holiday came into being in 2015 when #EverydayILoveYou trended online after a Filipino film director, who was promoting a romantic movie at the time, proposed to extend the applicability of "I love you" beyond romantic couples. The trend stirred up quite a storm in the Philippines, giving rise to another hashtag along the way: #NationalILoveYouDay. The new hashtag gained widespread popularity among people from 62 countries, therefore showing the world how powerful a message like "I love you" is.
Although "I love you" constitutes love for everyone, we must admit that a great magnitude of our love lies with our family, and in celebration of National I Love You Day, let's take a look at some heartwarming quotes about family love and how precious it is. (Courtesy: Goodreads)
