National Librarian Day 2022: Quotes To Honor The Savvy Educators
It is no secret that knowledge is the primary building block of any person's character. Since ancient times, libraries have been the best sources of knowledge, and, without doubt, the keepers of the bibliothecas deserve all the credit.
The role of the librarians, who run the place, is not limited to just cataloging and shelving books. A librarian has a lot more at their disposal when it comes to helping a person make sense of the world.
Alternatively known as library media scientists, librarians possess knowledge on a range of subjects including technology, science, art and culture, among others. A librarian's job involves engaging their patrons with a wealth of resources, as well as teaching some much-necessary life skills.
Given the dynamic nature of the various educational fields, librarians are expected to adapt to the new developments and acquire in-depth knowledge, which again is not an easy feat to achieve. So, keeping in mind all the hard work they do, National Librarian Day is observed on April 16 to honor the savvy educators.
To mark this occasion, here are some quotes about librarians to celebrate their contribution to society. (Courtesy: Brainyquote)
- "I'm of a fearsome mind to throw my arms around every living librarian who crosses my path, on behalf of the souls they never knew they saved."- Barbara Kingsolver
- "Some people can be choosy because they're ultratalented or lucky or whatever, but yeah, there are certain things that might not be the greatest thing on my resume. But I don't sit back and go, 'Gosh, I wish I didn't do that.' It's all part of the growth of a career, whether you're an entertainer or a librarian."- Zach Galifianakis
- "A book is a fragile creature, it suffers the wear of time, it fears rodents, the elements and clumsy hands. so the librarian protects the books not only against mankind but also against nature and devotes his life to this war with the forces of oblivion."- Umberto Eco
- "My mother was a medical records librarian and wonderful with us girls. She sewed a lot of our clothes - really glamorous, beautiful clothes - and I think that's part of why I was so successful when I went off to Paris; she'd made me all these wonderful clothes to take."- Jerry Hall
- "I'm kind of a reluctant Anglophile. My mother's a children's librarian, and all of the children's literature I read was from her childhood - E. Nesbit and Dickens, which isn't children's literature at all, but I was sort of steeped in English literature. I thought I was of that world."- Jefferson Mays
