National No Smoking Day 2022: 10 Motivational Quotes To Quit The Habit
National No Smoking Day is marked annually on every second Wednesday of March, and this year it falls on March 9.
The day is aimed at reaching out to friends or family members, who suffer from nicotine addiction. On this day, raise awareness and urge your loved ones to quit smoking, which not only causes lung infections but also causes cardiovascular diseases, including heart attacks and stroke.
According to the World Health Organization, tobacco kills more than 8 million people each year and more than 7 million of these deaths are the result of direct tobacco use.
"Tobacco use has declined markedly since 2000" but "the reduction is insufficient to meet globally agreed targets aimed at protecting people from death and suffering from cardiovascular and other non-communicable diseases (NCDs)," the WHO said.
